SEMINAR ON THE USE OF CALIFORNIA RAISINS IN PASTRY PRODUCTION

The seminar was jointly organized by RAC (Raisins Association of California) and Saigontourist Hospitality College (STHC) on January the 1st, 2018. During the seminar, cookery students at STHC were provided with knowledge of California raisins – theoretical and practical – through presentation and demo by professional chefs.

SEMINAR ON U.S POTATOES

The seminar was jointly organized by US Potatoes Council and STHC on January the 11th, 2018. During the seminar, cookery students got knowledge of U.S potatoes – theoretical and practical – through presentation and demo by professional chefs.

Outstanding characteristics of U.S potatoes include high nutritional value, variety in tastes and low percentage of spoilage. These advantages are attributed to good seedlings as well as favorable climatic conditions in U.S

TOUR GUIDE CLUB MEETING IN JANUARY 2018

The meeting with the theme of “Spring of Love” was held on January the 23rd, 2018 and chaired by Mr Quach Thanh Toan, Head of Tour guiding faculty at STHC. Invited guest speakers introduced traditional cultural practices of Vietnamese people during Tet Lunar new year to an audience of 150 students who attended the meeting.

Present at the ceremony were all graduates of 4 majors, their parents, alumni, teachers, representatives of STHC Management Board and representatives from businesses. The Principal of STHC Mr Vo Van Nhanh – in his congratulations speech – reminded all graduates to keep in touch with the school for any support, especially in job opportunities and career development.

STICKY RICE CAKES COOKING CONTEST ON TET FESTIVAL ON THE YEAR OF THE DOG 2018

The contest was held on January the 23rd, 2018 to promote enthusiasm, team spirit as well as traditional cultural values among staff of STHC and staff from partner businesses.

25 teams with members from STHC staff and staff from Auchan Vietnam joined the contest which was sponsored by Auchan Vietnam, Ajinomoto Vietnam, Classic Fine Foods, Raisins Association of California.

COMMEMORATION OF 1968 GENERAL UPRISING

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of 1968 General Uprising, STHC Youth Union members took part in the “1968 Spring Journey” programme which included visits to places and relics related to the uprising in 1968 as well as meeting with witnesses.

STHC YEAR’END STAFF PARTY 2017

The party was held on February 6th, 2018 to review the business year of 2017, to provide opportunity for teambuilding and to welcome the Lunar New Year of the Dog.

In a recent report from the Bureau of General Statistics in 2017 Vietnam received around 13 million international visitors, an increase of 29% as of last year. Vietnam is ranked 6th on the list of 10 fasted developed tourist destinations of the world in 2017. Tourism revenue for 2017 increases by 25% compared with last year. Vietnam looks at receiving 15.5 million international visitors and 78 million domestic visitors.

SUGAR ARTWORK ON DISPLAY AT NGUYEN HUE FLOWER STREET

In celebration of Tet Lunar New Year 2018 STHC contributed to the floral display on Nguyen Hue Flower Street in downtown Ho Chi Minh City with a sugar artwork themed “Spring time over fatherland”. This artwork – made by teachers and students at STHC – reflects  the love of peace and Vietnamese sentiment that arouses nostalgia for Vietnamese who are away from home on this time of family gathering!
